Monkey Forest
Today all of KS1 went to Monkey Forest at Trentham Gardens. Monkey Forest is a 3/4 acre woodland where the Babary Macaques (we think we have that right) roam free. What can we say? We got very wet, but had a lovely time seeing the monkeys and trying to spot them among the trees. There were even baby monkeys there, some only 6 weeks old. Pictures to follow shortly!

The olympic torch visit.
On Wednesday we had a visit from Graham Furber and his olympic torch. Graham was one of the torch bearers that carried the torch through Benthall. He was nominated by his son after dedicating so much of his own time to volunteering in Sport. He has been the head coach and Co-ordinator for the Junior section of his cricket club for 16 years. The club regularly has over 100 young crickets on an evening. He has also dedicated thousands of hours to disabled cricketers whilst volunteering for the CFPD (Cricket Federation for People with Disabilities) as England Team Manager.

Olympic Poetry
Today we were visited by an Olympic Archer called Alison Williamson. This inspired us to have had a go at writing our own acrostic poem about the Olympics.
Have a look below at some of our poems.
Olympics is on you work hard and fast
Lots of fun and be happy
Your're working hard to get a medal
Medals you can win and stand on the podium
Paralympics for all people
It is very fun and exciting
Come to see everyone do the Olympics
See us compete

Shropshire Sings
On Tuesday we went to the West Mid Show Ground and took part in Shropshire Sings. We sang songs alongside lots of other children from many different primary schools. It was the first time that KS1 children had taken part. The songs were all to do with the olympics. We had a fabulous time, even though it rained!!
We are looking foward to going again next time.
