Sentence Checkers!

We are working really hard in Acer Class to remember everything a sentence must have. We have characters that help us do this. When we have written our sentences we work with a partner and we check each others work! We tick the sentence checker to see what we have remembered. Hopefully this way we will become really good at remembering everything we need and we will become really great sentence writers!!

Magnificent Maths

Today we learned how to find 1 more or less than a number within 100.
The children had to pick a number on the 100 grid and then write what was 1 more or less.
Harry and Codey were our Maths stars today. Look at their fabulous work.

OUR BOOK PROJECT- CLAIRE FREEDMAN

This half term we will be starting to send home books from our focused author. This term it is Claire Freedman. She is perhaps most famous for her 'Aliens Love Underpants ' and other books in the series. Each week we will read some of her books and talk about them. We will also send home one book a week with someone in the class. If you bring the book home, we would like you to read it at home and complete one of the book project activities in the bag.
You can see some of her books on our Book shelf on the Blog. If you click on the books, it will take you to a link where you can buy them!  If you have any of her books at home, then please send in so that we can share. If you have some, and want to write a review and post on our Blog, that would would be great!

Art

Abigail brought in some miniature pumpkins and autumn vegetables. We sketched them and practiced our shading skills. (In order of appearance- Jake, Tanya, Eva, Sophia, Codey, Ellie- May, Gaia & Eloise A)

MATHS IS FUN!

This term our Topic is Space. Look at some of the fun things we have been up to in our Maths lessons. We have been learning to measure in cm and measure capacity. We drew aliens on the playground and measured them and we had to fill Baby Bears rocket with rocket fuel, making sure it was full, not half full!

Katie's Kitchen

Katie's Kitchen
We had a visit from Katie's Kitchen. We made some pitta bread Pizzas. There was a secret ingredient! Can you remember what it was? (shhhhh, don't tell the adults!!)

WELCOME BACK

Dear Children and Parents

Welcome to Acer Class and to Year One!

The children have all settled in beautifully and we are very proud at how well they are coming in in the mornings by themselves. We are all starting to get into a good  morning routine.

In the mornings we ask the children to put their reading packets in the plastic tubs, their water bottles in the baskets and everything else in their lockers. We always have a morning activity to be getting on with.

Our Topic is Space. You can see more about what we are learning about by checking out our Newsletter.
(Links on the school website)

Please remember to look at the Blog regularly. We will post up pictures and examples of work we have been doing in class. Please leave us a comment or two.

And remember, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please come and speak to us.

Farm Visit

Before half term we went to visit Treflach Farm. We saw cows and baby calves, pigs, ducks, sheep and lambs and Silver the farm dog. We were lucky enough to feed and pet the pigs... they like eating strawberries, leeks and wheat. We even got to taste some homemade sausage rolls made from the pigs on the farm. They were YUMMY!
After lunch we went to look at all the fruit and vegetables being grown on the farm. They were kept in a poly-tunnel to help them grow.
We had a fantastic day!

Hello from a new friend.

Hello Acer class,
my name is Rainbow and I am trying to find a new home. Mrs Pigg has told me all about you and I would like to come and live with you in Acer class. However, I am a bit lost. Do you know where I am? Leave me a comment and hopefully I will find my way to Acer class soon.

Your new friend, Rainbow.

Taste testing

Today we have been tasting some fruits and vegetables that we may not usually eat. This is so that we can choose what to put in Harry's dinosaur's herbivore salad. As you can see, some of the things we tasted we loved and some we didn't!
