Our author study, Claire Freedman.
We have just purchased some new reading books for our class. We have chosen to buy some picture books especially those written by Claire Freedman. She is famous for being the author of the 'Underpants' books. Take a look at her website. There are games on there too.

Monday Maths
Today we have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes. We have been making pictures with 2D shapes and naming the shapes we have used.
Alex told us,
"A 2d shape is a flat shape."
George told us,
"A 3d shape sticks out."
Look out for more 2d shape pictures.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Welcome back to the Summer Term. We hope you had a lovely Easter.
Our topic this term is chocolate! We have started reading Charlie and the Chocolate factory and today we did some pieces of descriptive writing to describe the factory. We had to think about what Charlie would hear, smell, see and be thinking and feeling.
Have a read ..... I think you will agree that we have some impending authors and that the children have all had a really good go at using some descriptive language.
As Charlie stared through the iron gates he saw an enormous chocolate factory with bellowing smoke coming from the chimneys. He could smell the delicious smell of dark, bubbling chocolate coming from inside. He could hear the humongous noises of swirling from melting chocolate. Charlie was thinking, 'I'd really like to go inside there if only we had enough money. ' He felt tortured, empty and sad. He hoped he could go there one day.
Isabella
He could smell rich, melting chocolate He was jealous because he wanted some chocolate He looked at the shiny gates and he wanted to go in.
Tudor
As Charlie stared through the iron gates he could nt help but feel the melting toffee dribble down his throat. He could hear the sound of chocolate being stirred and topped on to toffee that melted on his tongue. He could smell chewy sweets being loaded on to the candy bar.

MARCUS MOORE VISIT
Marcus Moore is a writer and he came in to talk to us about his favourite children s book and inspire us to write.
He read a book called Animal Lore which was about making new animals by combining the halves of two animals. We thought it was a really fun book and Marcus has some very funny rhymes he had written about the animals.
The children likes the names of the new animals If you cross a cow and a horse you get a corse. If you cross an elephant with a dog you get an elephog. You get the idea!!
We then created our own animals and wrote about them.
